General out-patient services
Our physicians provide patient care from birth to age 21 at multiple locations throughout Miami/Dade County. They perform well-baby checkups, care for all common problems, and provide a medical home for our patients.
Your child's pediatrician is your child's primary health care provider. As such, he/she is there to monitor your child's overall health, treat most of the illnesses and injuries your child may encounter, and is often the "front door" when specialty medical care is needed.
The most common reasons children need to see their pediatrician include:
- Health management (in the form of well-baby visits and childhood checkups)
- School/sports physicals
- Immunizations
- Diagnosis and treatment of acute illness
- Diagnosis, treatment and management of certain chronic illnesses
- Obtain referrals for specialty medical care
Among the most common illnesses pediatricians see are:
- Common cold
- Conjunctivitis
- Ear infections
- Flu
- Head lice
- Skin rashes
- Strep throat
Your child's doctor will also help diagnose and manage certain other chronic conditions, such as diabetes, allergies, behavioral issues, or asthma. When necessary, your pediatrician may refer your child to a UChild Health pediatric specialist. As part of the UChild Health System, your pediatrician will work hand in with the pediatric specialist to help guide your child’s care.
