Information for Referring Physicians

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplantation is one of 10 centers designed by the State of Florida Children's Medical Services as a provider of specialized medical services to chronically ill children & their families. As such, the division receives state funding and is audited regularly to ensure financial accountability and to verify the quality of the services we provide.

Our division maintains close working relationships with the Florida Division of the American Cancer Society, the Miami-Dade County chapter of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, the National Hemophilia Foundation, the Make-a Wish Foundation, Sunshine Kids, and many more organizations.

In addition to providing standard chemotherapy and radiation treatments, we offer
allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplantation for select patients with leukemia, solid tumors, sickle cell anemia, immunodeficiency disorders and metabolic diseases.

When tumor removal is necessary, we work closely with trusted colleagues in the appropriate surgical subspecialty: general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic oncology, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, urology and pathology.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplantation participates in national clinical trials for sickle cell anemia, hemophilia and stem cell transplantation, and are members of the Children's Oncology Group, a national consortium of physicians conducting clinical trials on children with cancer.
