Information for Referring Physicians

The Division of Adolescent Medicine has one of the largest and oldest clinical treatment and research experiences in the nation with HIV-infected youth. It is a subspecialty interest of Dr. Lawrence Friedman, who collaborates with youth-serving agencies for the education in and prevention of HIV and serves as an expert in the unique adolescent attributes of HIV for the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Judy Schaechter is known for her research into firearm reduction and violence prevention utilizing community programs and services.

Dr. Onelia Lage has been accepted in a national leadership and cultural competence program offered by the Hispanic Medical Association. She has a longstanding involvement with Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ medical advisory committee and school-based health centers.
