Research & Education

The excellent medical care provided by pediatricians and pediatric specialists is supported by active programs of research and education. Physicians in the Department of Pediatrics are encouraged to conduct research aimed at identifying simpler, more effective and patient-friendly treatments that improve length and quality of life. Support and encouragement is provided by the Division of Clinical Research. The Pediatrics Department consistently ranks among the top nationally in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for medical research. The award of NIH grants is a key indicator of research quality and competitiveness.

A renowned faculty attracts many future physicians to seek specialty training in the Department of Pediatrics through residency and fellowship programs at Jackson Memorial Hospital. In addition, many of the pediatric specialists willingly share their knowledge with practicing physicians and other healthcare personnel in valuable continuing education courses such as the Masters in Pediatrics.
