About the Division of Pediatric Transplantation
University of Miami transplant surgeons have extensive experience replacing the heart, lungs, kidneys, pancreas, liver and bowels in children. In fact, the first successful heart transplant in Florida was performed at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in 1986, and the team continues to perform more than 40 heart transplants each year in children and adults. The Division of Liver/Gastrointestinal Transplantation is continually ranked among the top five liver transplant centers (by volume) in the country. And with exceptional success rates, the University’s Liver/GI Transplant program has become one of the leading liver transplant programs in the southeastern United States.
