Mailman Center Retreat

Mailman Center Programs and Collaborators Strategic Retreat

The retreat kicked off Friday evening with a welcome from the Dean of the Medical School, Dr. Pascal Goldschmidt, a nice dinner at Balan’s and cocktails with a jazz band from the Overtown Music Project. Over 30 staff, faculty, trainees and community partners attended the retreat.

Featured Special Guests: Dawn Rudolph, George Jesien, Andrew Imparato from the Association for University Center on Disabilities (AUCD) and Dan Bier from the Waisman Center, University of Wisconsin

Our Aims:

  • Reflect on our Vision/Mission: Reinvigorate, re-inspire team as to the broader purpose and mission of the UCEDD/LEND/Mailman Center and how their programs fit into this broader scope. (Why are you here? Why Mailman? Why are we in this field?)
  • Identify Strengths and Challenges: What are our strengths and what are the challenges we are facing now and in the future. (lends itself to group work)
  • Strategic Planning: Brainstorm ideas regarding where we are, how to capitalize on strengths and address barriers, and where we want to be. (identifying priorities for transformation)
